Instructors
ELLE SEVEN
Southern California / The Badlands
A certified Skate IA Instructor, Elle has taught vertical roller skating in Seattle since 2013. While global commute roller skating she curated RIDE, an exhibition that brought 7,000 viewers to Grand Central Art Center in Orange County. She was the first curator in history to roller skate on ramps in their own exhibit alongside one of her best friends Estro Jen. This event was the catalyst for the revival of roller skates in the skatepark and the Moxi skatepark team. In 2012 she participated in the Dak’Art Biennale with another exhibit, RIDE WORLDWIDE and raised supply funding for the skaters of Dakar while ALSO funding the first portable skatepark in the country of Senegal. In 2016 took supplies to Standing Rock where Indigenous Tribes were gathering to protest pipelines and roller skated to the front line with protestors. Thanks to the help from many generous donors, Elle helped Native Youth at Sherman Indian High School, a Federally run boarding school for Native youth from all over the US. She recently finished a solo three-month long skate tour from Kansas City deep into Mexico and back.
VANNA
Southern California / Los Angeles
Vanna started skating in 2010 in New Orleans Louisiana with Big Easy Roller Derby. Since then, Vanna has traveled and skated worldwide with high level teams such as the Rose City Rollers’ Wheels of Justice and the Moxi skate team. Vanna has been skateboarding since 2016. Her favorite thing to skate is an empty pool. She currently teaches roller derby and skatepark lessons in Los Angeles.
ZAK
Southern California, Los Angeles
Zak Mayall “Swurve” Pronouns Him/his has been Skateboarding for 26 years and Roller Skating for 3. Taught a whole summer of skateboard camp. Currently teaching at an inner city High School skateboarding after school. Very avid skate builder. SkateIA certified instructor. Rolling with the best, his girlfriend of 2 years, Vanna has him head over heels, literally. Focuses will be bowl riding technique, airs, fakie, speed and skateboarding if anyone wants to take a shot.
J'NIYAH
Seattle, Washington
J’Niyah Williams, a born and raised Seattle local. Has been pursuing rollerskating for 2 years, since the start of the pandemic. She is into all things creative but especially movement and visual art. Her passions include dance (Shuffling), rollerskating, digital art, & adventure. You can find more of her artwork on Instagram @IN.NY.MIND. From time to time she makes custom roller skater stickers of skaters within the community. She's an aspiring JB style skater and have been actively traveling nationally and internationally to learn from, connect with, and pour into Skaters from all around the world! “ROLL WITH ME” symbolizes the healing power that rolling on 8s has. Where there are roller skates, there you will also find joy! & that JOY is immensely due to the other skaters in the community rolling with you & supporting you along the way! She prays that she can become a fraction of joy in your skate journey! Let’s roll!
SIL (her/she)
portland, oregon / caracas, venezuela.
She started skating two years ago in Florida, taking the routes to exercise and get to know the city on her skates. The day she dared to skate in parks she found her passion and motivation. She has since crossed the country from east to west living adventures and hitting parks and hidden spots where she finds fun. She learned that she could go with her skates wherever she wanted and that she could make wonderful friends in the skating community. She is convinced that to develop her skills, she must first work on her mind and body with meditation, good nutrition, yoga and beautiful moments.
SAFETY & SOCIAL DISTANCING
Please come with pads and helmets. This year at the skatepark they will be required. Students can skate without them during slalom or dance & skills if they feel ready. FUN AND SAFETY for a successful summer camp!
